In August 2021, N-CATT and Mountain Line Transit in Missoula, Montana, held a workshop to walk through important considerations transit systems should make when beginning the process of incorporating battery-electric buses (BEBs) into their fleets. This workbook, developed for the workshop, organizes the major categories of consideration and the major questions that transit systems should address at the beginning of the implementation process.
N-CATT envisions agency managers walking through this workbook with other members of the system’s leadership. At the end, staff should have an understanding of the initial research required to set a good foundation for adding BEBs into the fleet. In addition, this is a useful tool for agencies who have already begun the process to use as a reference point. We encourage anyone to reach out with suggestions of other major considerations that they feel their peers should make sure to address.
