Geography and the built environment make it difficult for transit agencies to serve certain parts of their communities. Luckily, there are a growing number of tools to help them expand their reach. One of these is the e-bike, with battery-powered motors that help people bike farther, faster, and therefore reach transit services more easily. In this webinar, we will talk with Mitch LaRosa of Shared Mobility and Lindsey Bradt of Capital District Transit Authority in Albany, NY, on projects around Upstate New York that use e-bikes to supplement transit networks. These bikes’ characteristics help fill certain gaps in transit access for many residents, and provide a promising technology to extend transit’s reach in challenging areas.
